Top NPP leaders, according to Mustapha Gbande, Deputy National Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), want to create a disorganized plan for the next Assin North parliamentary by-election.
The NPP, according to him, would deploy the same tactics as in the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
Mustapha Gbande claims that the NPP also intends to use instability to win the Assin North primary elections.
The NDC is convinced that it will win the by-election by 4JUdGzvrMFDWrUUwY3toJATSeNwjn54LkCnKBPRzDuhzi5vSepHfUckJNxRL2gjkNrSqtCoRUrEDAgRwsQvVCjZbRyFTLRNyDmT1a1boZVuse mayhem in Assin North like they did at Ayawaso West Wagon by-election,” he continued.
The Supreme Court unanimously decided to force Parliament to remove James Gyakye Quayson’s name from the rolls of parliamentarians.
The Court ruled on May 17, 2023, that Gyakye Quayson’s election as the MP for Assin North was illegal since he had dual citizenship at the time he applied to run in the 2020 elections.
Michael Ankomah Nimfa, a citizen of Assin Bereku in the Central area, brought Quayson before the court to prevent him from holding himself out as an MP after the Cape Coast High Court invalidated his election as the MP for Assin North in July 2021.
The by-election has since been set for Tuesday, June 27, 2023 by the Electoral Commission.
