Miss Teen Tourism World 2023 contestants were profoundly moved and emotionally aroused while touring Cape Coast Castle with a tour guide who recounted the tragic and heartbreaking history behind the structure.
While walking through the grounds where slaves endured inhumane treatment during the transatlantic slave trade, including chambers that were formerly used as slave dungeons, some contestants shook their heads in disbelief and others were unable to hold back their emotions.
Several contestants sought solace in the empathetic embraces of their fellow competitors in the midst of this emotional encounter.
In the meantime, the contestants paid a visit to the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast to pay their respects to the Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, and the Queen Mother of Effutu, Nana Amba Eyiaba I.
The esteemed traditional leaders extended a cordial welcome to the team, along with messages of congratulations for making it to the competition and words of wisdom that would influence the young ambassadors’ lives.
The interactive session elicited effervescent smiles from the contestants, who were appreciative for the kind gesture.
Between August 1 and August 20, Miss Teen Tourism World 2023 will be conducted in Ghana.
