Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party, has voiced unhappiness about not being given a job in Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration. He claimed that the Akufo-Addo administration ignored him when it came to an appointment despite all the contributions he made to help the party win the election. Dr. Apraku stated that he was ready and willing to accept a post that suited his background but no offer was offered. He made this statement during a JoyNews interview on July 11, 2023, which GhanaWeb watched. “In 2008, I ran Akufo-Addo’s campaign; in 2012, I was in charge of security; and in 2013, when I had no role, I worked incredibly hard and traveled everywhere I could. But no job was presented to me. With my skills in economics and finance, I would have accepted a post if one had been provided. If the job of finance minister had been given to me, I wouldn’t have minded at all.I had to find a job since I was neglected,” he stated. He denied the claim that by choosing not to serve in his administration, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was deceived. “If anything, it is not a betrayal; in fact, the opposite should be true… They failed to locate a purpose for me that was properly packaged, he added. According to Dr. Apraku, a former minister of trade, if he had been appointed finance minister, Ghana’s economy would not be in a better position.
