People in the Ghanaian town of Donkoto in the Western Region are still in awe over a young woman’s astonishing revelation.
Habiba, the woman, disclosed that Ali Tanko, her biological father, has been abusing her sexually continuously since she was just three years old.
Habiba bravely informed the town’s traditional officials about her father’s horrific deeds, according to a report by Angel FM.
She revealed the upsetting specifics of the assault, which had gone on for years without anyone being aware of it.
Habiba, who was probably in her late teens or early twenties, explained that her father’s intimidation and threats had kept her from speaking for all these years. However, she was ultimately forced to speak up after having a dream in which her late mother forewarned her.
“He threatened to murder me if I told anyone, so I refrained from speaking. He made me blame the pregnancy on someone else when I found out I was expecting, and they took care of me until I gave birth. But whenever the man came to see us, he got upset. I was violently abused by my father, and I fled with the baby to my grandmother’s house. Unfortunately, the baby later died,” Habiba told Angel News.
Her father continued the torture when she got back from her grandmother’s house. He even attacked the person who had looked after her during her pregnancy, seriously hurting his eye. Habiba found sanctuary with the man after encountering constant harassment and eventually opened up to him about the nature of her relationship with her father.
They went to the town’s elders together and told them her terrifying tale.
“He picked me up from my grandma and came back, but we continued to sleep together. Even going as far as to beat the youngster, almost breaking his eye. I told the boy the truth as a result, and he asked me why I had never brought it up before. He continued to bother me and the boy, so he took me back to my father, where he tried to have sex with me again at morning. I was taken before the elders to recount my story after I fled back to the lad. I have been sleeping with my father since I was three years old, thus it is true what she told Angel News.
Ali Tanko was challenged by his daughter after initially rejecting the accusations; she then showed him an egg and threatened to use an oath as proof of his guilt. When given this choice, Tanko eventually admitted.
As part of the pacification rites required to handle this grave violation, the chiefs and elders of Donkoto levied a fine of GHC 2,000 in addition to a bottle of schnapps and a ram in response to this disgusting disclosure.
Tanko begged for the fine to be reduced, and after some discussion, the elders decided to lower it to one thousand cedis. The ceremonies of pacification are slated for Saturday, June 11, 2023.
