All about Theresa Oppong-Beeko: Ghana’s 2nd richest woman revolutionizing real estate

Theresa Oppong-Beeko stands out as the second wealthiest lady in Ghana, with an incredible net worth of US$420 million.

Her rise from poverty to the top of a real estate business is a symbol of triumph over adversity and a model for others to follow.

Theresa Oppong-Beeko’s extraordinary life began in 1985, when she graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon with a BA in Political Science and Sociology.

Her road to success was not, however, smooth sailing. Her maiden excursion into business, the fishing industry, left her with a debt of US$2.5 million, a hurdle that would prove to be a stepping stone on the path to unrivalled success.

Oppong-Beeko went back to the University of Ghana to get her Master’s degree in business administration despite the fact that she had previously been expelled. This choice was a game-changer; as a result of her hard work and sharp mind, she was named Best Marketing Student in 1990. It was at this time of intellectual growth that she developed a passion for constructing things.

Oppong-Beeko’s life took an important shift in 1994. She started the Manet Group because she was interested in and knew a lot about the property business in Ghana.

Oppong-Beeko is a trailblazer in the real estate and hotel industries in Ghana, both of which are traditionally male-dominated.

She has guided the company to become a major force in the real estate market with her strategic foresight. The Manet Twin Towers in Airport City are a well-known landmark, and Manet Housing Limited has added nearly 1,800 residences to the area.

Further extending the reach of the Manet Group is the prospering three-star Manet Beach Paradise Hotel Resort and the prestigious Manet Construction Limited Civil Engineering Company. This enterprising spirit was also responsible for the construction of the recognisable Manet Court at East Airport, as well as the similarly named Manet Palms and Manet Ville in East Legon and East Airport, respectively.
Oppong-Beeko’s construction of the US$22 million Manet Twin Towers, an architectural masterpiece, was one of the most important turning points in her career. She wanted to prove that she was the best in her field, so in 2010 she had this building built to prove it.

Theresa Oppong-Beeko is now serving on the Board of Directors for AI Energy Group, a distinguished service provider, and she also has a key role in the economic landscape of Ghana. Her tale is an inspiration to women everywhere, and not only because of her financial success.

Theresa Oppong-Beeko has shown remarkable fortitude, resolve, and forward-thinking leadership throughout her journey. Her rise from poverty to prominence in Ghana’s property market is evidence of the limitless potential inherent in every person.
